ANALYSIS OF A CRYOGENICALLY COOLED NEAR-DRY WEDM PROCESS USING DIFFERENT DIELECTRICS

In this research, a cryogenically cooled, near-dry, wire-cut, electrical discharge machining (CNDWEDM) investigation was performed using air, oxygen, and helium gases mixed with the minimum quantity of dielectric water as working medium to cut Inconel-718 alloy molybdenum wire tool. All experiments have been –150 °C temperature liquid-nitrogen-cooled electrode. The comparative analysis wear ratio (WWR), material removal rate (MRR) an L27 orthogonal array. air/gas pressure, mixing water-flow rate, spark current, pulse duration are considered influencing parameters on cutting characteristics. It observed from that WWR oxygen-mist helium-mist CNDWEDM processes 30.39 % 27.91 higher than air-mist CNDWEDM, respectively. MRR 7.09 3.60 contributions process for all three media also illustrated. scanning electron microscope (SEM) images crater size in tool is crater-size CNDWEDM.
